MachuPicchu

Okay.. so after waiting for my guide... we were finally ready to head in. At the entrance you have to show your passport and the ticket and then we wait under a roof just near the entrance..  I guess the hold up was getting a guide in English and Spanish.  I opted for spanish, and our guide was good, but he spoke a little slow, honestly.  Its interesting... as I have done several tours by this point, the guides speak spanish, but that does not mean the tourists are spanish speaking, it just means they understand spanish better then English.  Because there were people from Brasil, Italian, etc.. where as I imagine with the english there are people from USA, Canada, and Europe.. interesting.. SO we begin the tour near the top, and out guide explains the history of the Incan realm and the coming together of the preincan tribes (if you will).. It was really interesting, but the rain was a bummer.

MachuPicchu has a misty cloud covering that would come and go with the wind.  It wasnt the best for taking photos, but it was pretty cool regardless. There is a mountain of history there and quite frankly it is an amazing place, good energy, beautiful views... just fantastic.

I really had a wonderful time, but as soon as the tour was over I was over it.  Okay... I didnt want to be over it, but there were sooo many people, and this was during the "temporada baja"... I could not believe it.. I didnt even want to imagine temporada alta! Ni MODO!  But really I cant complain tooo much about the people, because OBVISOULY I was one of them.. but I can complain about how the people act.  First.. When you have a guide stay with the guide, because otherwise he waits and you waste peoples time.  Second, if you dont pay for a guide, be considerate and dont follow someone elses... we began our tour with about 10people and I swear we ended with about 20!? Where did they come from, I just dont know.  Thirdly.. The tour is about 1.5 to 2 hours... bring water if you need it, but there was a family that was hauling around a plastic bag filled with snacks and a 2.5liter bottle of Coke... REALLY!? Come on.... plus people litter! WTF! This is a sacred place.  A wonder of the world, and people are litering and pushing and being slow and it just was a big distraction... I was in the gumball machine and I didnt like it.

So as I said.. I really enjoyed the tour, and I wish I would have gotten up earlier and done Waynapicchu.. There would have been less people and I think I would have gotten more out of the experience.  Regardless, I had a wonderful time...

I catch the first bus back to Agua Calientes.  Before I go to the hotel I stop at a little bar and get a mini beer.  It was refreshing and I chat with the host for a little bit.  I told him about my experience and he tells me he is something of a shamic guide himself, and sometimes during the full moon he sneaks in to MP and plays the flute.  I dont know if he really does that, but I can only imagine how cool that would be.  Ilegal, but amazing Im sure.  He also said if I came back he would take me.. but I could help but think he would have different intentations.  As cool as it would be.. I think I will pass.  The imagine is good enough for me.. So afterwards I pick up my bag from the hotel and head to the train station.

Train to Ollantytambo and the taxi is there to take us back to Cusco... Im dropped off in the Plaza de Armas and I walk back to Gmama Carolines.  It is about 9pm and I have to be ready at 7 to take the bus to Puno... But a new plan is added to the list..  When I get back from PUNO we are going to go eat CUY... GUINEAPIG. When in Rome no? But anyway.. It was a long day, and I am ready for some sleep!
