And all I wanted was a hot shower...
After the journey to the top of mtn Potucusi I return to the hotel and all I want is a hot shower. As I have mentioned the shower in Cusco was little more then a trickle of hot, so as you may imagine I hadnt had very relaxing showers for the past week.. .. Not that I NEED a hot shower, in Costa Rica that wasnt even an option, but when its hot thats okay, but when its cold out.. how can one NOT have a hot shower. Okay. SO I get in.. YES HOT water, GREAT water pressure, soo far soo good. I even decide to shave, oooh la la.. but then, right when I am in the middle of everything, shampoo in the hair, half shaven legs, etc.... the shower goes from hot to warm and then the pressure drops and its getting cold. Great, I think, someone else is starting to take a shower and this place does have enough water.. so I wait, thinking things are going to turn around.. but they dont. Then I turn my water off and try to listen to see if the room next to me is showering... UGH I just need one more minute of hot to at least wash the shampoo out of my hair.. But things are looking up. Someone else must be showering, but thats strange because by the looks of it I was the only one in the place. I saw NO other guests the entire time. Okay. SO its getting cold and Im wet, so I venture out in my towel to see if the other rooms showers work.. NO one else is around and I check out another shower, it works, but no hot water either... maybe I used it all up? hhmmm.. SO Im freezing and soapy and decide to return to "my" shower and check out the situation.. Still no hot water and actually when I turn it on full blast it comes POURING OUT and then suddenly gets weeeeakkkk until NOTHING even comes out. So I decided to call reception...
"Hi, Im staying in room 24 and there is no hot water. It would be okay, but I have shampoo in my hair, can you send some one to fix it".."Oh yes of course senorita" - Cool, someone is going to come and give it a loooksy.. well the young guy comes, Im in my towel watching tv.. then he says he fixes it.. and he leaves, the moment I get in the shower the hot water is on, and then waaaat wahhhhnnn NOTHING.. I hurry out, throw on the towel and yell... "JOVEN!!! come back! The shower stopped!".. So he comes back and tries again..."ok senorita, debe estar listo".. I thank him and this time the shower is like a sprinkler... BLAST nothing BLAST nothing BLAST BLAST nothing... then nothing.... UGH! SO again I yell for the joven and he comes this time with another buddy and they have a looksy.. Finally they leave, and I am able to get the shampoo washed out and I was able to have almost every young man that works in the hotel see me in a towel. Relaxing huh? UGH
Then I take a nap, stroll town and my 8am I am in bed sleeping... The plan for the morning is one of two things...
1- I can wake up at 4am, and wait for the 530am bus to Machu Picchu and at 7am enter the ruin and climb Waynapicchu.. then wait up there until my tour of MP at 11am... Waynapicchu is the famous mtn that is in the backround of all the famous MP postcards and photos. Only 400 people can go in a day, sooo the line begins at 430 ish (can be earlier depending on the season) to head out to the picchus. But if its raining its really not the best or safetst thing to do in the morning....
or 2- Sleep in, enjoy a free breakfast, relax, and then head to MP around 10am to have the tour at 11...
I go for option two, but I wish I would have done option 1.. no regrets, I had an amazing breakfast and sleeping was much needed, but when you talk about life experiences, sleep and breakfast really arent on the top of my list... but more explanation to come.... stay tuned!
