Zacatecas

SO as I was saying.. I arrived before the rest of the Family... so I took this opportunity to walk around the historical center of Zacatecas.  Lots of people were around, it was just a couple o days before Chirstmas... I wasnt in the mood to buy anything, and my heart was set on a cup of joe outside on a nice terrace.... would you believe that I walked and I walked and I walked and I only saw one rest. with outdoor sitting.. and it looked a little fluffy so I didnt bother taking a seat... It wasnt until I walked back to the Refugio de Don Carlos and asked the receptionist where I should go... he directed me and when I got there I felt more like having a Michelada! YUMMY oh and durning my coffee hunt I found a Zacatecas Candy store, so I enjoyed my brew with a spicy sweet and sour tamarindo candy... I really have gotten the hang of thi mexican food!

Around 5pm I thought I would test my luck and see if the family had arrived.  I head back to the hotel and I see Tio Santigo and gang, and when they see me they are surprised! They didnt know I was coming to visit...  So that was exciting.. Then the ret should up in the caravan about 30mins later... the big UNLOAD and key dispersal.  I lucked out and got my own room! Score.  Once settled, we headed back on the town, do a little mercado shopping and hen dinner at a typicl Zacatecas Rest.  I couldnt ask for more.

The following day I was scheduled to return to San Luis Potosi, but I didnt want to leave the family that quickly so I went to the bus station and changed my ticket.  Get back in the taxi, and I swear I knew where the otel was better then the cabby.

That night was hung out as a group, had snacks - popcorn with hot sauce, chicarrones and hot sauce, big circular MULTI COLORED ¨body of chirst¨ waffers.  Only in Mexico... actually I think only in the Catholic religion... no wait.. I think all religions are funny about this.. . if someone of a different religion "bashes" the other religion, WARS are started, but people of the religion can do and say what every they want, NO matter HOW hypocritical or double standard it is.  I mean.. I know these gigantic bright pink Jesus waffers werent blessed my a priest, but its the whole concept that you can just buy them and eat em like that.  It just seems a little sacreligious... But I digress... The real point of this paragraph was that spending time with family is really special.  I saw my cousin and his new bride- mi tocaya- be the cutest couple in the world.  When they sang Kareoke together I think every girl in the room was wishing they had that, or they were mising their boo.. it was that sweet! And to see Tio Santigo and the Primos sing and dance together was just pure fun... not to mention the Cuba Libres and Palomas! All was well in the Refugio de Don Carlos.

When it finally came time to leave, I stuffed my bag with Trucos (little minced meat pies), said my good byes and headed to the Bus Station.  My bus was to leave at 10am... So I figured Id get there around 9:40am-  I already had my ticket and I didnt need to check anything so I figured all would go smoothly. ... So I wait.   And wait.. wheres this dang bus... Its a little after 10 and no sign of it.  I return to the ticket counter and the women looks at me and says in the plainest flat unhappy voice "You were late, it left"... "WHAT!? What do you mean it left, I was here before 10?" ... Then she says, " You were supposed to be here 40mins before."  Okay... that doesnt make any sense... first.. no one told me that, second how the hell does a bus thats supposed to leave at 10am leave 40mins early.. not to mention Im IN MEXICO! EVERYTHING IS LATE! But this one bus leaves early... Color me confused.  But all is well and they get me a ticket for the 1pm bus free o charge.  Okay, that nice.  SO I return to the Refugio, get some breakfast and return to the bus station with PLENTLY of time.. and guess what... This 1pm bus doesnt show until 130pm... go figure.  I actually wonder if I had actually been left by the bus... prehaps it hadnt even arrived.  But I guess Ill never know.
