Sorry blog- I didnt mean to forget you

Okay.. geez.. its feb. 13th and Im in Peru and my last update was in Dec and about river shrimp... So much has happened.  I will get this up to speed and then go back for the details :)

Dec 19th- Jan2nd I was in Mexico.  I had an amazing time.  I flew into DF, bused to San Luis Potosi, Bused to Zacatecas.. Saw family and friends and had a wonderful time.

Jan 2nd- Traveled allll day.. No joke, left SLP at 11pm, traveled to DF for my 8am flight, then flew to Guatemala, and Honduras then San Jose... then some friends drove me to Samara-- arriving at the final destination at 1am wooof what a day.

Jan 3rd- !st day of Summer Camp with CREAR! Plan, two weeks with the youth (5 to 12yrs) of Samara and then 2 weeks with El Torito.  Two weeks each group fun filled days, and great trips; coffee plantation, Parque Marino, ENVIRONMENTAL DAY- hosted by yours truly, La Selva (local zoo), and an African Safari! Now multiple that by the x factor (which is about 50plus kids) and you know we were busy... but like I said, more details to follow...

Jan 12th- Lindsey, my co-worker decides that she is ready for a change and by change she means leave Samara- So that means a position with CREAR is presenting itself to me!...  (this was also on my environmental day, so between you and me, this was a great day)... Things made offical Jan 21st... I said I would work with CREAR for atleast one year after returning from my trip to South America.

Jan 17th- We began camp in El Torito... the first day about 60 kids, 2nd day 70 kids, third day, over 80 kids! We were expecting this and its great.  What a turn out.. We really had to brainstorm to figure out how to manage all this guilas... and we did just great.  Little ones in the first half of the program, big kids later... One trip just for the little ones, and one trip just for the biggies... But having to turn away kids because we didnt have space... talk about a heartbreaker...

Jan 29th- Feb 7th- FREE TIME IN SAMARA! Time to relax and take in the beauty of where I live! I slept in, surfed, traveled to Rodeos.. won dance competetions, hunted mariscos, played beach soccer, perfected my tortilla and empanada making skills, made arroz con leche, embraced Samara and couldnt have asked for anything more :)

Feb 8th at 430am- left Samara, headed to San Jose, waited in the airport for 5 hours, left for Peru at 5pm then made it to Lima at 9pm, taxi-ed to my friends Sandras G-mas house, hit the hay.

Feb 9th- toured Lima (briefly), ate typical Peruvian food- knocked my socks off by the way...
Feb 10th- Networking by 11am, Ceviche at 2pm, bus to Cusco at 530pm... 24 hours later.....

Feb 11th 5pm- Cusco, PERU.  The Incan Capitial... and basically thats the fast forward version... Tonight I plan my voyage to Macchu Piccu and other magical places :) Oh and Sandra lent me a camera- so I can capture the moments :)

Ok.. so all is planned.. the guide for the Valle Sagrado will meet me at the house at 7am.  She meets me, takes me across the street and two seconds later a bus picks me up, we head in to the center and wait for our guide and the rest of the tourists.  But Im in shock.. How slick was that? Seriously the timing could not have been better...  But the plan for the day is to take the tour of the Valle Sagrado, the Incans life source.  This is where most of their food supply came from, including over 3400+ different types of papas and I dont even know how many different types of corn they got, but lets just say this is where everything grows.  It is pretty inpressive.  SO the tour is planned and since lunch is included I didnt even think about bring money.... and guess what?  First stop... an artisian market. and Guess what?.. Hello Peru... How are you?

9-2-11- Arrive in Peru on the night of the 8th... after traveling all day youd think Id want to sleep.  I cant sleep on planes tren or in automobiles.. okay, thats not completely true... I cant sleep well.  I left Samara at 430am on the 8th, got to the SJO international airport at 9ish, checked in and waited ... I had a direct flight to Lima.. and they played a movie on the flight so it wasnt so bad.  My friend Sandra works at a really nice hotel in Lima so a Taxi-shuttle man was waiting for me with a SIGN :) It was a class act.  He took me to Sandras deceased grandmas house where she was waiting.  I was orginally going to stay with the family at there house, but its full full full.. I guess thats what happens when you live in a really cool city and have grandkids... they move in when its time for College... SO the guest gets her own place.  And its actually not so bad.  Besides the ghost.  Just kidding, but that was my first thought.  Great....

On the way to Hot Water

So as I was saying the morning to ride to Machu Picchu.  Again I am pleasantly surprised by the organization of Percy and the tour, because at 5:10am (Feb. 17th) a skinny Cusceno, named Maguum picks me up and we head to the center to get two more travelers.  They are an older couple from Chile and due to the early hour, no one talks for about the first 30mins... But I finally brake the ice by asking if i can turn up the radio.  Maguum was bumping some good typical music and I wanted to hear. I was a mix of the region music popularized with cumbia. I love cumbia and with a cusceno beat,it was great.  So we pass through the rolling hills and mountain sides of the valle sagrado... in the higher elevation they cultivate papas and once in the valley one starts to see the variety of crops, corn, strawberries,apples, melons, carrotts, tunas (catus fruit.  in Mexico they eat the nopals and the fruit is used more for salsas due to its b...
