Church, grapes, lentils and planes
SO I spent Christmas In Mexico. It was really nice and relaxing. I felt part of a family and thats the whole reason. We went to church the night of and that was a new experience for me. It was my 2nd Christmas there, but first time in a Church for the holiday. Im a spiritual person, but I would say I conform much to a specific religion, and long story short, this was way different then the Luthern Church Christmas´ I had as a child.
First off WAAAY more somber. I recall lots of singing and songing and happiness.. but this was just kinda lacking.. Okay, not lacking, but it just didnt seem like a celebration of the birth of the Savior. And for your information, the most basic Religious tunes werent sung until New Years... AM I missing something? Little Drummer boy on new years? OkayI mean I gues techinically not many people were actually there for the big guys birth, so I suppose it would have taking a couple of days to spread the word verbally that the savior was born... It would have been different if Maria (Mary) had facebook. She would have had those iphone photos up in an INSTANT...
Oh and New Years... also very relaxing. I was glad. Last year I worked until 2am then got a ride to visit some friends that were still out. But for those of you that know me, last year I was still living in Milwaukee- the drunkest city in the world (true, it has to be it was on MANSWERS)... anyway, so the bars were open until ridiciously hours the next day, and by the time I got to my friends they were drunk, one (you know who you are, hehe) was head butting the bouncer and wellllll lets just say it wasnt the typical party New Years, and I really havent had a "good one" in years so ... thisyear I had no expectation... and thats the best.
I had made a lasagna, and at midnight we had a shot of lentils and then 12 uvas (grapes).. bye 1:30 I was out like a light. Then on the 2nd, I left at 11pm for DF!
8am plane ride to Guatemala... That airport is was strange. They must have invested a TON of dough because there are HUGE duty free stores, perfume, leather, purses and more. They even had Gaming Stations (playstation or something like that)... but they forgot something. I didnt see one flight monitor. How do you keep travelers sane without a flight monitor, really?! So I finally found my unmarked gate 14a and waited no more then 30 mins to get on the next flight to Honduras.
Arriving in Honduras I had almost a 5 hour lay over... kill me. This airport also had a HUGE duty free section, but hardly any food vendors. Not even a resturant. I would have loved a real lunch and a drink or something.. but not possible. So finally 4pm rolls around and its time to leave. I can wait to get back to CR! Summer camp starts the next day and I shoudl arrive around 6pm and my friends (remember Roberto, he agreed to bring me to the playa!) and I should get there that night. SO much better then staying in a Hostel and then busing in the madrugada arriving to the first day of camp late. Okay all is well expect, no plane. OKay minor detail.
They find a plane and we depart about an hour late. Fine. We are in the sky for about 30mins and they make an announcement that we have to return to Tegucigalpa because the airconditioning is out. SHIT. Damn damn damn, I just wanna get home. SO back in Tegucigalpa... they are fixing the bad plane, and we dont have a replacement. Boo. Crap, what am I going to do? How will I notify my friends? Lucky Im not that much of a spaz, and the other "Spazzs" harrassed the counter attendants enough that all my questions got answered- an hour and a new plane will be here. okay 1hr and 30 mins later... in 30 mins the planes ready.... ufff We didnt end up leaving until about 7:30 arriving around 9pm... thank god my friends were still waiting. I felt badly, but I was just sooo happy to be back in the CR... seriously. I dont know how or why or when, but that country is in my blood, and I do threw withdrawls when Im not there.
And by 1am I was back in Samara. Out to Olas por una chelas and in bed shortly after... Tomorrow is a big day! The first day of summercamp with CREAR!
