Floating Reed Islands and another bus through the night.

Refreshed, rejuvinated, re everything.  After the three hour boat ride we arrive at Las Islas Flotantes, Los Uros.  I had heard about these island, but nothing compares to seeing them in person.  From a distance you can see the reeds, and then you start to see that there are structures in the reeds.  Then the boat rounds a corner and on both sides of what we'll call a river through the reeds there are these little community so to speak.  Each island houses about 2 to three families... and each island is made of about 4meters of reeds.  The Uros utilize the reed roots as the base, then the reeds (green part) as the "floor" the roots are cut into cubes (roughly about a cube meter) and then tied together, then the grass part of the reed is pilled on top... the roots keep the islands afloat  and well it was truely a site unlike any other.  It was like a magical fantasy world that one only sees in childrens pop up books.... Speaking of pop up books, someone should make one about a family that lives there.. it would be really cool...

Okay, so we hung out on the islands for about 45mins.  Some tourists opt for a mini boat ride in these fancy reed boats, but I opt to just sit in the sun and take in the fresh air.. plus I didnt have any $ so the "Extra" boat ride was not in my budget.  Then we all gather up again in Angels boat and head towards Puno.

What a great day... I made new friends, tons of fresh air.. just excellent.  By the time we get to Puno its about 5pm and the sun looks like she wants to go down.  Im a little tired and I just wanna go back to the hotel and freshin up.  Fautso invites me to go a bite to eat or do something around 7.  I agree and we meet in the Plaza de Armas and we head over to the bar where he had been with the two angels.  There we have a typical drink, Mate de Coca y Muna y Pisco.. its called .... well Im blanking on the name... BUT it was the perfect drink because once that sun does down its COLD and this drink, hot tea with a little pisco (kinda like tequila made from grapes) well its just the perfect touch to warm the soul.. or just the body.

So I hang out the the Angels and Fausto for about an hour and then I head back to my hotel and then met the guide and she takes me to the bus stop.  There I get a pack of M&Ms (guilty pleasure), water and some crackers.. I think ... anyway, its going to be another LONG bus ride through the ride.  Seriously I would rather spend the day on the bus then the night.  During the night I want to sleep, but its virtually impossible on the bus, in the seats that half recline and they play movies like leathal weapon on high volume... UGH no zzs for me.

We arrive in Cusco around 430... I take a cab to Carolinas.. and I just want to sleep.  What a trip I have had.  I just had a couple more days in Cusco.. time to get any last minute recuerdos, hang with the "family" and then get ready for my second 23+ hour bus ride to Lima... excellente.
